ASSOCIATION OF WOMEN IN TOURISM TANZANIA

The Association of Women in Tourism Tanzania (known as AWOTTA) is a non profit organisation founded in 2012. Based in Dar es Salaam, we are committed to the development of tourism within Tanzania and across Africa.

Our objectives are:To advocate for the rightful positioning of women in tourism development; To support access to first class tourism education and expand opportunities for investment and employment in the tourism sector in urban and rural communities; To promote and support sustainable tourism and associated climate change initiatives; To contribute in the development of innovative and quality tourist services; To develop strong networks in Tanzania and internationally to help achieve the social and economic goals of the tourism industry and United Nations Sustainable development Goals.

We are driven by the popular saying “Nani kama Mama” (Who can be like mum?) which means that the children of Tanzania look to the next generation of women to lay the ground that will lead to their prosperity. We are proud to embrace this tradition and take on its responsibility within our tourism industry.

We want to work with the African Tourism Board to create synergy for reaching our objectives and those of the ATB.
